Terms

Terms and conditions

Who is responsible for what, between you, us and the yacht operator. Written to be understood before it matters rather than after.

1. Who we are

Yacht Holidays Group Single Member P.C., registered in Greece under GEMI number 191598401000, at 41 Agiou Dimitriou, Piraeus 18547. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean that company; “you” means the person making the booking on behalf of everyone traveling.

2. What we do, and what the operator does

We are a yacht charter agency. We advise on the yacht, the base and the water, we place your booking with an operator, and we stay with the charter from your first inquiry to the day you check out.

The charter contract itself is between you and the operator. Their terms govern the yacht, the security deposit, the handover and what happens if something aboard goes wrong.

We arrange the yacht and everything that attaches to it. We are not a concierge service: flights, transfers, provisioning, restaurants and shore arrangements are not part of what we sell. We will tell you what we know about a place, and we will tell you plainly when something is for you or for the base to arrange.

3. Inquiries and quotations

A quotation is an offer to book at a stated price on stated dates, and it holds only while the operator holds the yacht. In high season, availability moves within hours.

We make every effort to set out all the charges attaching to the yacht and to any service provided by the operator, and to identify separately anything the base collects rather than us. Some costs cannot be calculated at the outset — fuel is the obvious one, since it depends on how you use the yacht.

Certain yachts, chiefly crewed ones, are booked with an APA: an Advance Provisioning Allowance. This is a sum paid before the charter, usually a percentage of the charter fee, from which the captain pays the running costs of the trip — fuel, food and drink, berthing, port dues and similar. The captain accounts for it as it is spent, and whatever is left is returned to you at the end. Anything spent beyond it is settled on board.

4. Booking and payment

A booking is confirmed when the operator has accepted it and the first payment has been received. The split is usually around half on booking with the balance about a month before you sail, but the schedule is the operator's and you will have the actual figures and dates in writing before you pay anything.

Payments are made in the currency stated on your confirmation. Bank charges are yours; ours are ours.

5. What you pay at the base

Separately from the charter fee, the base collects certain amounts directly from you on arrival — typically a refundable security deposit, fuel, end cleaning, tourist tax, a transit log where the country requires one, and any extras you have chosen. If a base asks you for something that was not on that list, tell us at the time and we will take it up with them.

6. Changes and cancellation

Cancellation and amendment terms belong to the operator and vary between them. Typically, any amount already paid is not refundable. If you need to cancel, tell us as early as you can — we will say what is recoverable, what is not, and whether moving the dates is a better outcome than cancelling them.

We recommend charter cancellation insurance and, where it is offered, deposit-waiver cover. We do not sell either and we take no commission on them.

7. Your responsibilities

  • Valid passports, visas and travel insurance for everyone in your party.
  • For a bareboat charter, sailing qualifications the flag state accepts, plus a competent second crew member. We will check yours before booking — please send the certificate itself rather than a description of it.
  • Accurate crew details for the crew list, on time. Port authorities do not treat this as a formality and neither can we.
  • The yacht, while you have it. You are responsible to the operator for it under their contract, which is what the security deposit exists for.

8. Liability

We are responsible for the advice we give you and for arranging the booking with reasonable skill and care. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of the operator, the base or a skipper we did not employ. We will make every effort to resolve any dispute between you and the yacht operator or the crew.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

9. If something is wrong

Tell us while you are still aboard. Almost everything is fixable at the time and almost nothing is fixable a month later, once the yacht has been handed back and turned around. Call rather than write if you can — the number is answered while our clients are away.

10. Pictures

The pictures on this site are there for illustration — to show what chartering a yacht is like rather than to depict a particular vessel, place or trip. They come from a range of sources, including image generation.

In written material prepared for you we may also use photographs supplied by the shipyards, to show the detail of the yachts we offer.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by Greek law and the courts of Piraeus have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU, this does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory law of your own country.
